12 August 2009 - OSIL Set the Standard!

Ocean Scientific International Ltd are pleased to announce that they have expanded the scope of their ISO 9001;2000 Certification in line with the increasing demand for their environmental monitoring systems. This means that now all systems supplied by OSIL meet the high management standards that this accreditation demands.


21st August 2009 - OSIL Data Buoy Weathers the Storm

In 2008 OSIL (Ocean Scientific International Limited) supplied the Countryside Council for Wales with a data collection system, the platform for which is an OSIL Shearwater Data Buoy. Since 2008, the Buoy and YSI 6600 Sonde have been regularly withstanding 75mph winds and 4m waves to collect temperature, salinity, DO, Chlorophyll and turbidity data on an hourly basis. Dr Richard Wiliams, Managing director of OSIL, comments ‘The Shearwater Buoy is a solid basis for our Data Buoy programme, and our systems work is now covered by our ISO 9000:2001 scope’.

Deepwater currents are notoriously difficult to measure, the problems of working at depth, moorings, frame design, deployment and recovery all need to be taken into consideration for a successful deployment and recovery.  This becomes even more demanding when working in the vicinity of an offshore platform.


8th June 2009 - OSIL Multiple Corers Collect Truly Undisturbed Sediment Samples

OSIL’s (Ocean Scientific International Ltd.) range of Bowers and Connelly Multiple Corers are the only way of collecting a truly undisturbed sediment sample from the seabed. Each of the four corers, Mega, Maxi, Midi and Mini, provide a simple and reliable way of collecting the most accurate sample possible. The corers use a unique hydrostatically damped coring mechanism to attain the undisturbed sample.
