Micro SV
AML's Micro SV provides its customers with lower servicing costs and longer calibration periods than any previous SV sensor. The new composite Micro SV combines radical advances in ‘time-of-flight’ sound velocity measurement with hi-tech composite sensor materials, making it the obvious choice for any SV users who want to get the most out of their instrument.
As the Micro SV’s name would suggest, it is smaller than the original Invar SV sensor with a nominal length of just 214mm. Its size means it can be easily attached to the smallest AUV, ROV or tow body and as the new SV does not have any metal parts the need for sacrificial zinc anodes is eliminated, avoiding complex replenishments and cutting down the long term costs.
The Micro SV is a hi-tech probe which can also be adapted to include an AML temperature and/or pressure sensor. The Micro SV is now available with either AML’s hi-tech composite sensor or traditional invar-rod sensor. Invented in 2000, composite sensors eliminate path-length change due to corrosion and vibration, resulting in longer periods between calibrations. Temperature response time is immediate and range extends to 1600 m/s. On some applications, no zincs are required.
