For the storage of salinity samples, type II glass with disposable plastic insert and bakelite screw cap is recommended.  The clear glass enables analysts to identify samples with high particulate/contaminant content.

Wire crates are recommended for the storage of glass salinity samples because they allow them to be stored upright and provide protection to the glass during handling and storage.  The open mesh design allows free circulation of air and water around the samples to facilitate faster temperature equilibrium.  The crates can house up to 24 bottles each.
