The SeaSonde HF Radar
Codar’s SeaSonde HF radar system is a non-contact, surface current and wave measurement system that accounts for over 80% of the HF radar systems in use in the world today. The SeaSonde combines state of the art technology with reliability and convenience, providing its customers with the only solution to their ocean observation needs.
Codar's patented technologies, including their processing algorithms, allow the SeaSondeto produce extremely accurate 2-D surface current velocity maps and measures the most important wave parameters. Patented antenna design and processing algorithms enable the system with up to 360º coverage. The patented pulsed FMCW eliminates the range aliasing and antenna wind-vibration noise inherent to other HF system designs.
The SeaSonde is available in three configurations, Standard, Hi-Res and Long-Range.
Spatial Range:
- Standard Alongshore: 20-60km Offshore: 20-75km
- Hi-Res Alongshore: 15-30km Offshore: 15-20km
- Long-Range Alongshore: 100-220km Offshore: 140-220km
Frequency Range:
- Standard 11.5-14 MHz or 24-27 MHz
- Hi-Res 24-27 MHz or 40-44 MHz
- Long-Range 4.3-5.4 MHz
