OSIL become sponsors of '8 marathons in 8 days'

Havant-based marine environmental systems provider, OSIL, have announced they will be the official sponsors to a 2-girl team who will run approximately 220 miles from Paris to London in April.

Team member, Victoria Grove, broke three vertebrae in her back while on a climbing trip to Chile in 2011. Lucky to survive and determined to help those less fortunate than herself, Victoria has fought her way back to fitness and is planning to take on this challenge.

Along with her close friend Anna Ridout, Victoria will run approximately 220 miles, starting with the Paris marathon, taking in the sights of the French countryside and round off the challenge by completing the Virgin London marathon a week later.  This equates to more than eight full marathons in eight days. In the process, the team aims to raise £5000 for charities Aspire and Back Up – both national charities, helping those affected by spinal cord injuries to rebuild their lives.

Dr Richard Williams, Managing Director, OSIL said “we are delighted to be supporting this challenge and wish the girls every success in their fundraising effort for this worthy cause.”

Victoria Grove said “Anna and I are preparing both mentally and physically to take on this event, without the sponsorship support of companies such as OSIL the challenge would just not be feasible.”

The challenge begins on Sunday 15 April 2012 in Paris. If you would like to know more about becoming a corporate sponsor of the event please contact annaridout@live.com
